Tired of the Same Old Protein Shake? Try Out These Recipes!

Here at the Herb Basket, we recommend increasing protein intake to support weight management and blood sugar goals. One of the easiest ways to do that is to incorporate a Clean Protein Powder into your daily routine.

While it's a very effective way to increase protein consumption, drinking the same protein shake everyday can be... boring. So, we have compiled a short list of recipes to spice-up your protein and open your mind to the possibilities of what you can do with it!

Salted Caramel Coffee

One of our favorite ways to enjoy our Salted Caramel Protein Powder, is by adding it to our coffee in the morning! Sweet and buttery, with a pinch of salt, this Protein Powder mixes smoothly into that warm cup of coffee, or can be prepared in advance for that perfect iced coffee!

All you will need for this tasty treat is:

  • Coffee

  • Milk or Milk Substitute of your choice

  • Salted Caramel Protein Powder

  • Shaker Bottle

Instructions:

Prepare your (hot OR cold) coffee (6-8oz) in your shaker cup. Add your milk of choice to preferred amount, and then add one scoop of Salted Caramel Protein Powder. Shake until blended and Enjoy!

Typically you do not need to add any additional sweeteners to this recipe: the protein powder sweetens it enough by our tastes! But if you would like to add some honey or stevia to your coffee, certainly feel free to do so!

Copy Cat Perfect Bars

Popular amongst the Herb Basket team members, "Erin Lives Whole's" recipe for Copycat Homemade Perfect Bars are a tasty way to fill up on protein while feeling like you're treating yourself! We will list the basic recipe here for you, but check out her website for her plethora of other flavors of these delicious bars and wide range of other good-for-you recipes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cup Oat Flour (store bought is best for ultra fine texture)

  • 1/4 cup Vanilla Protein Powder

  • 1/4 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter or Almond Butter

  • 1/3 cup Honey

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1-2 tbsp Melted Coconut Oil

  • 3/4 cup Mini Chocolate Chips

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together oat flour, protein powder, and salt.

  2. Add in your nut butter, honey, vanilla extract, and 1TBSP coconut oil. Mix until combined. It will be very thick - consider using your hands to really mix well. It should eventually come together like playdough, but if it’s still too dry, add more coconut oil. You want them to be FIRM not soft and too much coconut oil will make them soft.

  3. Mix in chocolate chips, again using hand or spoon.

  4. Press into a bread pan (~8x4) and add more chocolate chips on top if desired. Press them into the top.

  5. Let sit in fridge for at least 1 hour before cutting into 8-16 bars depending on how big you want them to be. Store in fridge.

If you feel like you want a bit more protein, you can always half the amount of oat flour and use the protein powder in its place (So you would be using 3/4 cup protein powder and 3/4 cup oat flour)!
